Today’s Blockupy Action Day in Germany was a great success! Acteurs of Crisis were tackled in 4 big cities.
In Berlin the day started with a rally at Oranienplatz together with refugees and supporters who then started their journey to Strasbourg, where they start the International March 4 Freedom for freedom of movement: http://freedomnotfrontex.noblogs.org/. The final speech before the demonstration began ended with everyone chanting “Soma was no accident. Soma was murder! Fight capitalism everywhere!”
In Stuttgart (southern Germany) 3000 people took the streets. The demonstration began after a delay caused by the police. All participants who arrived by train and bus were forced into identity control by the police. The demonstration was a grand success in the city.

Around 1500 people participated in Düsseldorf (west Germany). The demonstration was filled with creative elements, including blockades of various businesses in the city center with poor working conditions. At least one business was completely shut down by the human blockades. After the demonstration many continued on to the Dusseldorf “Deportation Airport” for a demonstration protesting against the European border regime and the German State’s deportation practices. For freedom of movement and residency for all! #stopdeportationairport
Around 3000 people participated at the Blockupy demonstration in Hamburg. The official demonstration ended just before 4pm, and afterwards participants were violently attacked by police with water canons and teargas. Despite police barricades some protesters were able to reach the target destination of the demonstration: Elbe Philarmony, a prestigious building site in Hamburg city wich is a symbol for gentrification and misguided urban planning in the interests of capital instead of the people. There were a few arrests.
